Masked Deceit

by Rose   Aug 3, 2004

You'll leave us with questions,
we wish we could ask,
as you display your perfection,
on your shimmering mask.

We stand in your shadow,
even there shines your light.
Presenting your power
as we swoon at your sight.

Behind your locked doors,
You collapse in relief;
another day you withstood,
feeding our false belief.

Although you are lonely,
as crowds fawn you in,
your unflawed perfection
can't shine from within.

You shake in despair,
from the lies that we sold,
your tears are the truths,
that will never be told.

You wipe off your sorrow,
as if repainting your face,
that will dazzle the world,
with its deceiving grace.
