Leeds Child # 13 (AKA Jersey Devil)

by Jacki   Aug 5, 2004

Along time ago
when the moon was shining so,
a storm began to brew.

Out in the woods,
a mother was ready
to give birth.
To none other than,
the Leeds child
number 13.

The story is told,
that she cursed her
unborn child.
"I curse you child
to be the devil!"
Long before he was
even born.

Some say she was a witch,
Some say she was insane,
Either way 12 children,
don't you think that
was enough anyways?

The storm grew heavy,
and the rain poured down.
Mother Leeds had just given birth.

In front of her lay child
number 13.
How perfect was he,
like a gift from god.

When out of nowhere
did the child transform.
Long course hair began to grow.
Horns did follow,
along with a tail.
a horse-like head,
then came those wings.

Poor Mother Leeds,
with her 12 children around.
All were Eaton alive.
Never again to be found.

It looked around,
and flapped it's wings.
Escaped out the chimney ,
to circled the village.
Flew off into the Barrens
where it sits and Waite's.

Those who survived
the gruesome attack,
Told a story of the devil.
That was born on a
cold stormy night.

Sometime ago it decided
to feed. flew out of town
oh yes indeed.

31 ducks, 3 geese, 4 cats,
and don't forget about the
2 dogs that were all scattered
and dead.
And what year was this horrible
attack you might be wondering.
None other than 1966.

In 1987, in Vineland an
aggressive german Shepard
was found torn apart and the
body gnawed upon.
Only to be found 25 feet
from its shed.

And the story lives on
that the Leeds Child Roams.
But mostly it likes to stay at home.
Pine Hill Barrens is where it
likes to rest.
Feeds upon small children
and you may never lay them
to rest.

So on a cold night when
a storm is brewing,
travel to New Jersey to the
Pine Hill Barren Forest.

Sit and listen to the creature
from within.
Let him tell you how good
your blood is going to taste
upon his disfigured face.

But this is how the story is told.
To this day Leeds child number 13, sits and waits ready to feed.
Upon anything that crosses
his feet.

*Ever wonder how the New Jersey Devils got there hockey name?*
