Daddy dearest

by miaowmolly   Aug 5, 2004

I hear the nurse talking,
her words are low and hushed,
My mother comes out crying,
Her heart looks so crushed,
the nurses shoes they squeak and clap,
hesitation on her face,
She grabs me by my tiny hand
and quickens up her pace,
She sits me on the bedside to where my daddy lays,
Everything so blurry, everything a haze,
She speaks to me so slowly because I'm only four,
She stands up, looks away and quietly shuts the door,
I ask my daddy questions to why he won't wake up,
I don't hear any answer so then I erupt,
My sister hears my sobbing and rushes to my aid,
This is where it all blacks out
my memories they fade...

    Mamar:
I don't know how old you are, and I usually check ages to be fair in my comments. Your poem was simple (which is sometimes the better read) and touching. I liked it very much.
