A Heart Of Paper

by Cantchangeme   Aug 5, 2004

Images have danced
Pictures have entranced
As they flash across my mind
Mountains made from paper
Most mountains left unclimbed

A blackened heart
A poisoned dart
An once again you're on your own
So you walk around with me
Forever looking for our home

As our angel weeps
And our devil creeps
You see they're fighting for our soul
Maybe our angels lost the fight
Where ever did our angels go

Lost in time
Lost in mind
The angel shuts the door
We sleep under paper mountains
On our cold hard paper floor

We're paper dolls
In darkened halls
Paper dolls have feelings too
But now that the fire's caught us
What is a paper doll to do

A soul for hire
As we catch fire
I turn and with quickened haste
Give you my paper heart and smile
As the fire puts me in my place

So for tonight
No angels fight
Tonight a paper dolls alone
It's clutching close a paper heart
But now it has found it's home

Hi there, I really like this poem, I find myself drawn to darker poems at the moment, the rhyming is spot on and when read out loud it really carries weight. Regards Ink

I just came accross this little gem and had to add it to my favourites. Great rhyming and pace. I really love the paper theme that runs throughout. It portrays the fragility of it all. This is compelling, emotional and dynamic and is an an immediate favourite. Well done on an excellent piece. Milly x
