Thankyou

Poetry cannot express quite what you meant to me
I never told you of the trust and hope you made me see
You where a ray of golden sunshine in my grim, foreboding life
With little words of comfort to relieve a little strife
If you'd stayed a while to see me through I know I'd be ok
But now you're gone i hug my secret tighter every day
I lived so deep inside myself, about to let you in
But I bided my time, waited too long now my strength is wearing thin.

Silently and effortlessly you changed my every day
Embraced my destructive mask of pain
And set me on my way
With the patience of an angel, told me stories of your child
I can still see the distant look in your eyes
And a flicker of a smile.

At first I despised your will to help, I hated you for prying
But as my pain flowed down my arms I saw your smiling eyes were crying
You let me know you really cared and I started to let you in
But now you're gone I'm left to guess at things that might have been.

This is not about a lost relationship but someone who put themself on the line to help me but left (through no fault of her own) and i never told her how much those little gestures meant. I guess this is as close as I'll ever get.
