Standing still
In blue Adidas running pants
A gray Penn State sweatshirt
And blue sparkly whale socks
I watch them
Beautiful and strong
Yet they do not know the harmless state I am in
Shivering in my whale socks
Those whales have a better chance of harming them then I do
Yet we stand and share this moment
We acknowledge each other
Knowing that only too soon
My kind and theirs
Human and beast
Will meet again
Only then they will be the harmless ones
They will be the chased
And I will stand here still
In awe of their beauty
But for now we share this moment
She turns her head
Two babies bound out of the hay
White tails bobbing
They leap away into the woods
