Forever Friends

by Kelleigh   Aug 9, 2004

Ive known you for 15 long years
They've been 15 of the best.
No one can have them compare to ours
We are different from the rest.

I remember us in preschool
We would finger-paint together.
Smiling and laughing without a care
I wish it was like this forever.

One the first day of kindergarten
I was sad and wanted to cry.
We were in different classes
But you were there to dry my eyes.
We came up with a solution
We could talk through the fence.
Telling each other about our day
Filling each story with suspense.

First and second grade were great
But third was not to good.
We stopped talking or even smiling
It was something I never understood.

But in fourth grade it all changed
We were the same as we were before.
Every minute we grew closer and closer
Each day it was more and more.
In fifth and six grade something happened
I still don't know what it was.
You started hanging with other people
And said it was just because.
I felt hurt but I knew the bond
We shared would never change.
You would always be like a sister
Unless life could rearrange.

Middle school is what changed it all
You got a new group of friends.
They were popular and you were too
It seemed our friendship would end.
You still say hi when I passed you
But something didn't feel right.
It felt awkward and weird
Like the real you wasn't in sight.
I kept my feelings bottled up
And I let you fade away.
I didn't know how to bring you back
I was afraid of what you'd say.

Now we're grown up in high school
And we are still very far apart.
But know this, no matter what happens
You will always have a place in my heart.
You are my sister by friendship
And nothing can change that at all.
You can always come to me with your problems
I'll be there to catch you if you fall.
I want to be friends forever
I hope you feel this way too.
You're my friend and my sister
I will always, forever love you.
