Daddy Can't You See

by Hannah M.   Aug 10, 2004

Look into her eyes, couldn't say no
Such a face, couldn't let it go

She asked him everyday
Little girl, knew what he'd say

He always answered with a smile
But waited for a while

She'd climb up in his seat
The one thing she'd repeat

The question, she would pop
Until the answer he would drop

Daddy do you love me,
Daddy can't you see

He would hold her hand
As she helped him up to stand

Always he would reply
As he wiped a tear from his eye

In the park they always walked
as they held hands and talked

The question would always rise
not to his surprise

Daddy do you love me,
Daddy can't you see

The little girl couldn't understand
The problem that was at hand

The problem with her daddy
How he couldn't see

He always answered with his heart
Their love would never part

He couldn't look into her eyes
When he said his goodbyes

Such a face he couldn't see
That would've set his heart free

Each time he said yes
His love he did express

He could never say no
Yet he had to let her go
