Unfinished Portrait

by TAinted vįŕťues   Aug 11, 2004

Frost clinging to my heart
Stopping me before I start
Taking me to the closet of my dreams
Where I don't want to go

An unfinished portrait
Claws at my soul
But I have to meet my fate
A this weight pulls at me

This portrait I must finish
Painting me with my own blood
Painting my own dreams
With my own screams

I look out of the window
I try to stop this flow
As I paint the person
I have become…

This dagger seduces me
This shining blade
Thirsty for my bitter blood
A way to save me before I fade

I paint this thing
For which I prayed
The scorpion's sting
The good that I betrayed

I try to finish this portrait
But my blood runs out
My dreams over…my screams choked out
As I finally die

This unfinished portrait
better remain unfinished
As the tempting blade
Lies buried in me…

  • You have great imagination. I liked the title, theme, i liked the idea in each stanza..but i felt all together there was something missing... May be the linking of each stanza was not appealing. I am not sure. YOu are talented. Please, don't take my comment in a negative sense. I will check some more poems of yours.
