Adieu

by alfie   Aug 13, 2004

Nobody should be to blame,
But i can not but help say my name,
Who knew it would be today?
I imagined it to be a lifetime away.
I'm sorry for not being there to say goodbye,
But tears of regret have flowed from my eyes,
It nearly killed me to see you in so much pain,
But the memories i have, will always remain.
You were the one i told everything,
And many thoughts of you, to my heart will cling,
I remember so many of the cute things you did,
Even when i first saw you when i was just a kid.
I could have had anyone, but i picked you,
There was something there, something special and true,
You were with me for so many years of my life,
There beside me witnessing my happiness and strife.
I knew one day that the end would come,
However, little did i know it would leave me this numb,
Slightly different, i thought it was age, but still,
I failed to notice you were terminally ill.
As we were so close, it was harder for me to take,
I didn't realise you were suffering until you it was too late.
There are so many more things that i would like to say,
but in my heart they will just have to stay,
They are the sweetest memories between me and you,
I know I'll see you soon, but for now, goodbye,
Au revoir,
adieu...
