Rise

by Aken Sol   Aug 13, 2004

Inhaling the aroma of dirt.
Ah, the smell of defeat.
Apathy is a flirt.
Stay on the ground because I’m beat

Yet I still struggle to get up.
My body shakes under the weight.
Transform into a dog but I’m still a pup.
I need to be a man and get through this gate.

Again I was standing on my own.
The boulder was off my chest.
Staring off at the sky unknown.
And watched the Sun set down to rest.

Staring outside there was something I realized.
Smiling lightly, I sighed in relief.
Because I figured, tomorrow the Sun will rise.
