God Bless Rock and Roll

by ryan   Aug 14, 2004

Assaulting my eardrums with tenacious sonic violence, i revel in the destruction of my capacity to hear. Cranking it up a notch, I am immersed in the beautiful yet turbulent meeting of sound and emotion, my heart ensnared in lyrics penned by a soul i have never met. I hear the agony and it lessons my own. I rock along to the defiant anthem and I'm suddenly seized by the desire to break something. I listen to the tender expression of love, and faces flash through my mind unbidden, summoned by the longing, mourning notes. Rock is my drug, my therapy, my own private party, a reassurance that I am never alone. That whatever i endure, others have gone before me. It's an outlet for anger or frustration, a companion in times of joy, and a painkiller when once again the world fails to meet my expectations. When emotion renders me silent, rock is my voice. Defiant, angry, loving, purposeful, hopeful, joyful, lost, confused, mellow, invincible. Gob bless Rock and Roll.

I want to thank the movie School Of Rock and the bands: Linkin Park, Three Doors Down, Lost Prophets, A Perfect Circle, Puddle Of Mudd, Seether. Drowning Pool, Nickelback, Smile Empty Soul, Trapt, Chevelle, Disturbed, Finger Eleven, Yellowcard, Hatebreed, Alter Bridge, Ben Moody, Unloco, Rage Against the Machine, Korn, Incubus, Three Days Grace, Trust Company, The Used, Tenacious D, Shinedown, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Aerosmith, The Rolling Stones, Lenny Kravitz, Creed, MBR, Hootie&theBlowfish, CKY, Thousand Foot Krutch, P.O.D, Kutless,Good Charlotte, Louis Armstrong, Officer Negative, Matchbox 20, dc Talk, Pax217, Relient K, BTO, Styx, Chicago, Boston, The Eagles, John Hiatt, Blink 182, FM Static, Deftones, Sugarcult, 311, and Bon Jovi.
