Would someone please tell me
The real meaning of life?
I've been pondering this for awhile
If someone told me, that'd be nice.
See, the thing is
Is I get wrapped up in
All these little things
That I don't have any time to understand.
Have you truly lived life
When you've fallen in love
And then fallen out of it?
Or is the meaning of life based upon trust?
Have you really lived life
When you've married your mate
And then got divorced
Because it wasn't really fate?
Have you truly lived life
When you've gotten your heart broke
And you thought you'd never trust again
And you cried so much you felt like you were gonna choke?
Have you really lived life
When you got in a fight with your friend
And you socked her in the stomach
But it wasn't really worth it in the end?
Have you truly lived life
When you fought over a guy
And you lost your friend in the process
But when it was all over you couldn't stop asking, "Why?"
Have you really lived life
When you've had your first kiss
But it wasn't with the right guy
And you almost missed?
Have you truly lived life
When you got in a fight with your mom
And you said things you shouldn't have
And it went farther than it should have gone?
Have you really lived life
When you let your dog out for a walk
And he got hit by a car
And you were so shocked you couldn't even talk?
Have you truly lived life
When your grandpa was diagnosed with cancer
And you grandma was so upset
That you couldn't really calm her?
Have you really lived life
When you graduate highschool
Even though you weren't that popular
Or for that matter, very cool?
Have you truly lived life
When you finally found a best friend
But you had to move
And you had to say good-bye all over again?
Have you really lived life
When you had to go to your grandpa's funeral
And you didn't really have anything to wear
But it didn't matter because you were so sad and your knees were so weak you felt like you were going to fall?
Have you truly lived life
When you liked somebody for years
But he was with your friend
And everytime you thought of them, it almost brought you to tears?
Have you really lived life
When you've tried to write a poem
But it ended up in a mess of words
So you never tried to fix it, and you were kind of bummed?
So, when have you really
Lived your life?
If someone would fill me in,
That'd be nice.
