Mom's Point of View

by rachyBBY   Aug 16, 2004

I wrote a poem called Mom and this is a reply to that poem from a mom's point of view

I'm sorry
But I can't stop drinking
It's just too hard
But, I've been thinking

I didn't really ruin your life
You ruined mine
I know you disagree
But to you, I've always been kind

Maybe I cussed at you
And maybe I wasn't always there
But no matter what you think
I always did care

So don't go on about
What a terrible mother I am
Because you're not such a great daughter yourself
So don't even talk about what I am

You don't even know how to commit suicide
That's why you're not dead
You're so dumb, I think when I gave birth to you
The doctor dropped you on your head

So go ahead and cut yourself
That's your problem, not mine
Because I'll be out drinking
I hope you think that's alright

If you have any problems
Go whine to your dad
Because I don't want to hear it
You have a better life than I ever had

I've been where you are
It's not fun, is it?
When I tried to run away, I didn't get far
So let me tell you this

You think your life sucks?
Look at my life
I'm married to your father
Sometimes because of him, I want to turn to the knife

I never do though
Because I don't run away
When things get tough.
I have one more thing to say

Yes, I do love you
But you lied when you said
"I love you too."
I really can't believe that you're not dead

Go ahead, try it again
Try to commit suicide
You'd be one last thing
That I'd have to deal with in my life.
