Art School

Please help me
I broke the cardinal rule
I thought too much in school

Today my teacher yelled at me
I felt like such a fool
She said that I'm not simple enough

She turned her back
and I cleared my desk
All my pictures, colours and thoughts
hit the dusty floor with a thud

I want to crawl into a hole
and not come out until I can have them

Please help me
I broke the cardinal rule
I thought too much in school

Last week my teacher yelled at me
I felt like such a fool
He said I'm too original

He turned his back
and transformed my beautiful portrait
into a misshapen collection of lines and dots

He asked me what I thought
and I choked back the truth
like a mouthful of dust

Please help me
I broke the cardinal rule
I thought too much in school

My teachers always yell at me
I feel like such a fool
They say that I'm too strange

They smile at all the robots
and compliment their monochromatic copies
while I sit back and bite the dust

Maybe I will draw another secret picture
Of the spaceship that brought me here

In this strange school
I have not learned how to draw
only to smile on command

I wonder what I ever did
and why this must be my punishment

But as I keep a watchful eye on the teacher
I only know one thing
I broke the cardinal rule
I thought too much in school

  • I too love drawing.. Sometimes the strictness bugs me... But it helps you later... Do your imaginary works at home.. Save it for later... Expose them when you are allowed to do free style. i am sure they will get the deserved appreciation. Take care.

Ooops.. the poem is nice. Keep writing.
