Nearly Nothing

by dandy   Aug 18, 2004

Here I am alone,
with nearly nothing on.
Out in the cold and frigid air,
on the rock I sit upon.
There is nothing else here with me,
not a single other being.
I'm freezing and I want to leave,
but there's no means of fleeing.
I'm bound fast to this spot I sit,
I'm scared and cannot move.
I soon will surely die,
if these conditions don't improve.
The wind strikes roughly at my face,
no pity does it show.
The temperature continues to drop
as it begins to snow.
I'm now slipping off the rock,
there's not a thing that I can do.
I'm not much of anything in this world,
I'm nearly nothing without you.
I fall lifelessly to the ground,
unable to move or speak a word.
But from somewhere behind me,
soft, quick footsteps can be heard.
The person bends down upon me,
I can feel their warm embrace.
I'm just able to sneak a peek,
and I see your wonderful face.
You sit beside me and pick me up,
holding my head against your chest.
I'm shivering, but I'm warming up
to this heart that you posses.
You lay me back and cradle me,
like a baby in your arms.
I know that I am safe now,
you'll protect me from any harm.
Something warm and wet lands on my cheek,
I realize it's a tear.
That delicate drop right from your eye,
makes everything so clear.
I'm nearly nothing all alone,
but I'm something around you.
I'm a person who is much loved,
you make this all so true.
My eyes begin to flutter open,
I look up into yours.
You notice and look down at me,
and this makes my heart soar.
More tears begin to fall from your eyes
when I say,
I had no clue.
You hold me close to you and say,
Don't leave me I love you.
My stomach does a backwards flip
as I absorb what you just said.
But I can't even think straight,
as those words replay in my head.
I say,
I love you to,
and your face gets closer to mine.
I can't believe this is happening,
these feelings are just divine.
Your soft tender lips connect with mine,
As I take in your kiss.
I wish this could go on forever,
in a never ending bliss.
It lasts for moment then you pull away,
I need your kiss that much more.
I don't know how I got by,
I'd never lived before.
You keep on staring in my eyes,
as your slender hand cups
my cheek.
This sends shivers up my spine,
and makes me feel so weak.
You notice this and quickly say,
If you don't like it, tell me so.
I say,
I love you and I need you,
please don't let me go.
He responds,
I love you more than life itself,
let you go, I could never.
That's when I know I'm not nothing,
I'll be something to him forever.
