You're In Our Hearts

by Joy   Aug 20, 2004

I have met many people,
Throughout my life,
Some who are really happy,
Then some who rely on a knife.

I saw you as happy,
As someone who cared,
No one ever really saw,
The pain within that you bared.

Sure some labeled you weird,
Or maybe even a freak,
But there were those true friends,
Ones that took you long to seek.

Though some people didn't show it,
We all cared for you,
Even in the slightest way,
But you just looked right through.

It was a cloudy day,
When I heard the news,
That you had commited suicide,
I was trying to piece together the clues.

After hearing the story,
In a different way,
The one thought raced through my head,
What happend that day?

Your dad was a police officer,
That's where you got the gun,
You pointed it to your head,
And there ended the fun.

A trigger was fired,
And blood was askew,
After rushing you to the hospital,
We learned that we lost you.

No one knows why,
Or the thoughts going through your head,
It will be a mystery forever,
I guess that's enough said.

So goodbye Electra,
Or to friends Emu,
We'll never forget your life,
And all our love will stay true.

**This poem is dedicated in loving memory to a dear friend, Electra, who commited suicide on August 11th, 2004. You're in our hearts. We'll never forget you, your life, or your memory.**

This poem is really good. I live in a small town where everybody knows everybody. In the past 7 months we have had 9 teenage deaths along with accidents that have put several other teens in ICU. 2 of those deaths have been because of suicide. It is so hard to lose someone you care about especially when it is too suicide. The people who commit suicide don't realize the hurt they are leaving behind, along with the guilt of not realize that person was hurting.
