Inside

by Robin Parmer   Aug 21, 2004

I see it in those eyes, I'll see you again once more.
Even through all these lies,
You'll walk right through the door.

I haven't seen you,
For the longest time.
There's nothing else to do,
There's no reason for this rhyme.

I see you when I look in,
You stare coldly back at me.
You see this battle I have to win,
And no one can help or will ever see.

You were gone more than a year,
You hid where no one could find.
I forgot that you were dear,
And precious in my mind.

How could have I forgotten,
Your beauty and your grace.
I'll admit my heart was broken,
And you can guess what took its place.

You will come out someday,
Until then I will abide.
You will keep looking out in dismay,
While I see you on the inside.
