A Poem To My Big Sister

by Rebecca   Aug 21, 2004

You are my sister and by blood too
We have grown up together,
But all this time I have never thought about you
I have been selfish and disrespectful,
But now I sit and realize,
I should now be by your side

I want you to be happy
I want you to smile
Because I know what its like,
Not to have fun, where you can’t help but frown for a while

I think you will learn,
As I have
That you need to think positive
Even when you don’t want too,
I want you to keep this life you live

Even if it hurts truly deep down inside
Do not turn away when you look in the mirror
Face yourself and don’t hide
In fear

Stand up tall and face the facts
Perfection is not what you lack
No one is perfect and neither is life
You have to learn from your mistakes
Even if in ten years you can’t get over the strife

I love you like you don’t believe
I want you to say outloud, “Rebecca loves me”
Even when you think that no one cares
Remember you have a little sister out there
Or maybe big perhaps
But I will always be your sister
For now and for ever!

Dedicated to Leah J, my big sister who I love with all my heart!
