Children Of The Darkness

by Morgan   Aug 23, 2004

Children of the darkness
Here we are
Possessed by self-destruction
Cuts that lead too far

This is our world
Filled with shattered dreams
Broken bones
And children's screams

This is our despair
These are our tears
This is our pain
These are our fears

Keep the door closed
Don't let the light in
It brings back memories
It shows where we've been

We watch death lurk
And feed off the gloom
We tell stories of torn pride
That brought on our doom

We talk of faded bruises
Of which we still feel
We talk of tainted love
That we swore was real

This is our house
Where every pain is shared
We've all been trapped
We're all scared

We all have scars
People have torn us apart
So we bring on suicide
Because we have broken hearts

We sleep all day
And cry all night
We've been deceived
This isn't right

This isn't what we bargained for
Life's a nightmare in disguise
So we've sold our souls to the devil
And now each one of us dies

So this is what we've become
People who can't let go of the past
We drown in our sorrows
And our lives are gone too fast

this poem hits so close to home for me. it's ironic how so much of us feel this way, yet tell ourselves that no one know how we feel. keep up the good work!
