Excuses

by ~*^*~ longing to belong ~*^*~   Aug 24, 2004

You phoned me last night,
When you got home,
Told me you were alright,
And not to worry.

Well I think that came a bit to late,
After I nearly killed myself,
Why the hell did you wait,
Before you got in touch.

I texted you all day,
Trying to get through,
I needed you to say,
That you were still alive.

OK, so your phone ran out of cred',
But, you have a land line don't you?
Could you not call me with that instead?
You don't know how scared I was.

Next you say you had no signal,
On your way back,
That is why you didn't reply.
You don't understand how worried I was.

Finally, you left your phone at home,
When you went out for your walk,
It fits in your pocket, one little phone,
How could you not reply?

All these excuses and still I don't know,
Why the hell you didn't just call.
There are ways of talking, as you know,
That don't include writing messages.

I'm sorry if I sound OTT,
But I was absolutely terrified.
You could be dead, can't you see?
And then all you have for me is excuses.
