Teddy bear

by Foresaken_Tears   Aug 25, 2004

In the early morning as she wakes the darkness in front of her face
Is the threadbare form of her scruffy old bear who all night she has embraced
She lifts him from his teetering perch, holds him close and shuts her eyes
And in the crimson coloured sunlight she curls up tight and cries

Not a soul can hear her desperate sobs, shes far away from home
Growing thinner and hopeless with each passing day, uttering only the weary groans
Of a lonely child who's fallen from grace which the world just will not see
Of one who needs help to find herself and a reason to merely be

Through good and bad shes carried her bear he's all shes ever had
And though he's old and dirty now for his company she's still glad
She mutters words into his ear to console herself once more
For she lives not within four walls and a roof but sleeps upon the floor

The passers by wont acknowledge her, they cross over the road instead
So she lives in utter silence now, all alone inside her head
They know not what shes running from they cant say where shes been
But the think to themselves; shes far to young to be living this hell at fourteen

Hand in hand with her bear she walks for miles to get away
From a past she cannot deal with and a life that lead her astray
She slumps beside a red brick wall and quickly falls asleep
Yet even whilst she gently dreams her eyes silently weep

Tomorrow's just another day no good or bad fills her mind
Just fantasies in a child's head of hope for better times
Her limp brown hair falls over her eyes so dark she cannot see
And as she stumbles to the floor she utters a silent plea

Picks herself up so defeated now she knows its got to end
And she'll finish her days how she lived her life; with the bear her only friend
Towards the bridge she hauls herself and climbs towards the tide
She jumps grasping onto one tiny paw; her best friend by her side.
