If You Weren't In My Life

by Ten Feet Tall   Aug 27, 2004

I had a dream last night,
That you weren't in my life.
I thought it was true,
Until I woke up crying,
And reaching out for you.
And this made me think,
What I would be without you.
I would be lost in the darkness,
Swallowed up by this life,
Drowning in the sea.

You mean so much to me,
That I don't know what I'd do,
If I ever lost you.
You have so much to offer,
To a friend in need.
A smile,
A hug,
A holding of my hand.
Anything to make me feel better.
To watch the smile spread on my face.

I'm so glad you're my friend,
And so glad I met you.
But more than that,
I'm glad dreams aren't true,
If they were,
I wouldn't have you right now,
I would be so lost,
And I wouldn't know love.
You taught me that,
You taught me how to love.

Written with such love and passion, it is amazing how you transfer all those feelings into one writing, very good.
