Staring Back at Me

I know that you're unhappy,
I can see it in your eyes,
Every morning you wake up,
Feeling totally despised,

Things are getting harder,
It's now difficult to breathe,
You're constantly cradling,
Your head between your knees,

You cry yourself to sleep,
Each and every night,
Before bed you always pray,
That He'll make things alright,

Your world is slowly dying,
And it's taking you down too,
But you have to be strong,
You have to pull through,

Eat when you are hungry,
Don't starve your aching bones,
I know that you're afraid,
And you're feeling so alone,

Please don't be ashamed,
Of who you are today,
Inside you there is beauty,
And it will never fade,

You compare yourself to flowers,
You say some just bloom dead,
And those that are lucky,
Have their whole lives ahead,

You, my dear, are living,
You just have to see,
You have so much to offer,
There's so much you could be,

You know that I am here,
To give you love and affection,
Look for me next time in the mirror,
For I am your reflection.

* I feel like I should explain this poem- Some days I wake up and look in the mirror, and find myself so upset with everything I just can't handle it. So I bring myself together and come up with something supportive to tell myself. That way, when there's no one to turn to, I know I can always rely on myself. ... Just in case anyone wanted to know it's background. *
