This World I'm Living In

by Conner   Aug 29, 2004

Wars have been fought,
and lives have been lost.
Terrorists are plentiful,
because they believe lines have been crossed.

What has America done?
Why do we deserve this?
All because we have freedom,
and freedom for you does not exist?

Whose fault is this?
Is it ours?
Why are we being threatened when you started this?
We didn't attack ourselves!
It was you that destroyed our twin towers!

Whoever messes with the United States,
doesn't walk away scott-free.
You brought pain upon U.S. residents,
and you brought pain upon me.

We have many problems to deal with,
excluding the ones you've caused.
The day of September 11, 2001,
made the entire world pause.

It was like Earth quit spinning,
for the moment in which we found out.
That moment was so hard to believe,
and most people were filled with doubt.

How could this have happened?
How could we have not seen this coming?
There had even been some rumors about our president,
and that he knew this event could possibly be forthcoming.

Why didn't he take action,
when he heard about this threat?
This rumor has since then led me to believe,
that he is a horrible president and this makes me so upset.

This world will never be the same,
and you can't turn back the hands of time.
What has happened will be burned into this country forever,
and can never truly be explained in any rhyme.

Great poem. I think the reason your poems aren't gettin the recognition deserved is because of the irregularity of your verses. Try and make them flow better, maybe condensing some of your lines, you might find you'll get more admirers. Sorry if my honesty upsets you. It's not intentional, just the way I am.
