Kill The Pain

by *K~L~C*   Aug 29, 2004

She\'s turning paler by the minute
Her lips are turning blue
Her eyes are widening
Her hands are gripping the sides
Her knuckles are white with fear

As she lay there
In the tub
In the reddening water
She couldn\'t think of the pain
Of the burning on her wrists
In her lungs
All she could think about was dying for love
Going to that special place up above
She was getting out
Out of this prison called life
Remembering each and every knife
Knives that seemed to go for her heart
Her heart that had already been torn apart
So many sad yesterdays
Only a few happy ones
Suddenly she thought of a poem
\"Die For Love\"
And how she stole the words
From the letter
Written by a girl
Who made her own life all better
\"Dig my grave, dig it deep.
Dig my grave from head to feet/
And on the top place a dove.
And remember this, I died for love.\"
She prayed
\"Now I lay me down to sleep.
I pray the Lord my soul to keep.
And if I should die before I wake,
I pray the lord my soul to take.\"
She\'s not only doing it for her sake
Her smiles, her laughter
It was all fake
All for a guy who would never give her a break
He wasn\'t the only one
Who took her heart, but not to keep
Every time she missed his smile
She wanted to weep
The others were worse
Everything they said
Felt like a curse
Every insult directed to her
At night her body would sweat
While her soul wanted to say, \"Burrr.\"
Why her?
Now it was someone else\'s turn
To burn
In hell
A place
Where they can yell
But they\'ll never break the spell
A spell that is unstoppable
Something greater, impossible

Memories of her long lost loves
Some who flew away like doves
Others not yet ready to fly
Momma
The word so foreign
Yet so familiar
Daddy
A person who she didn\'t remember
But knew was there
Jimmy
A name she longed to call
Wanting the tears to fall
Tears for the person she remembers mast
Yet doesn\'t remember at all
Amonte
A person she wanted to be there
But didn\'t want to come here

People constantly whispering in her ear
Scared of not the tears, but the fear
No longer wanting someone to hear

Now she was moving on
Moving on from all that pain
Screaming in vain

All her life she fought
Not caring if someone\'s love had to be bought
As long as she could feel peace
She knew she never would
So she would do anything she could
To end her pain
Her screams of vain

On her way out
She swore she wouldn\'t fight
Or bite
So with a lullaby she sung herself to sleep
Not making a peep
Waiting for the beep
I sung myself to sleep
\"Hush little baby don\'t you cry
Momma\'s coming soon so say goodbye
Hush little bay don\'t you cry
Lay here alone so all your pain will die.\"
