Hard to Breathe

by Emily Barclay   Aug 29, 2004

The words cut through my heart, I find it hard to breathe,
My soul shatters as I'm forced to watch you leave,

The tears build up in my eyes,
I blink and stare at the skies,

You reached towards where I stood,
And spoke to me the way no one else could,

My body goes stiff and tense,
My life now makes no sense,

Our eyes finally meet,
I see jealousy and deceipt,

My eyes long to look away,
But your eyes dig deeper and force them to stay,

My body trembles as you touch my hips,
You lean forward to kiss my lips,

You step back and stare at me blankly,
Then tell me it's over frankly,

You tell me to look for the way it should be,
I look but never see,

Your eyes slip down and stare at the ground,
Then you slowly shuffle around,

You only caused pain for me to feel,
But the pain turned to scars and scars show you the past is real,

The moment replays in my head,
From every word that was said,

The words cut through my heart I find it hard to breathe,
My soul shatters as I'm forced to watch you leave.
