Until The Next Day

by Bryce Ellner   Aug 30, 2004

As the day draws to a close
I lay on the ground, staring at the stars
The cold wind blowing my bangs into my face
Only to be brushed aside soon after.

Everything is calm now
No sounds of any kind
Save the sound of my own breathing
And the distilling beat of my heart.

Everything I felt today
Gone in that instant
Replaced by this feeling of peace
That lasts only but a few moments.

And as I gaze up into the night, I realize
This is what it has all been for
Every corrupted, descision-making choice I made today
Has all ben for this one single moment of peace

And that one brief, soothing moment
Seems like just enough to keep me alive
And to keep me going...

i really liked it, i'm just gonna throw out my 2 cents for a second....i think you could have even ended it with the line about keep me alive...instead of keeping me going. I don't know. But either way its amazing and you did a great job writing this. Although it was hard for me to keep the peace and silence with fire trucks swarming the street lol....I hate the cities lol. ANyways i gave visuals reading this, i really liked how you described your bangs blowing. FOr some reason I pictured a little blond boy laying on his back in a field one leg crossed over the other, arms behind his head. ANyways great job writing this.
