Lost Love & Betrayal

by Amy   Aug 30, 2004

Here I lay so quiet
Breathing in the Summer air
Remembering your voice
And your warm, gentle stare

Gazing at the sunset
Wishing to lay in your arms
So we could be together
Beneath the glittering stars

I close my eyes
And remember what you said
I love you forever
The words burn inside my head

Then the betrayal
The bitter taste lingers on my lips
You chose her over me
Left me behind in the mist

And that flicker of hope
You had rekindled in my heart
Slowly burnt out
As you watched me fall apart

You saw the hurt
And betrayal in my eyes
I know you meant it
When you begged me not to cry

Everything you had said
You claimed was still true
But you weren't over her yet
I should have knew

The tears flowed slowly
Sparkling on my cheek
Symbols of my loneliness
And the comfort i seek

How could you do this
When i gave you my soul
And you claimed i was the only one
Who made you feel whole

The bond that we shared
So strong- Not strong enough
You let go of my hand and it was
Her you reached out to touch

Your firefly stare
Your warm embrace
The way you lit up the world
With that smile upon you face

And the way you left my heart
In pieces on the floor
Like broken shards of glass
Jagged and torn

So good luck with her
I really hope you see
How much your decsion
Has completely destroyed me

Watch me fade away
To a distant time and place
This is one scar
That time cannot erase
