The Last Goodbye

I remember that day I was walking alone
Faces looking at me when I finally arrived home
They said sorry but you know I’ve got some bad news
Body shaking cause I could sense hard times coming on soon

Flash back to nights where I’d been troubled by dreams
So vivid and real they seem more like reality
In those dreams I was looking deep into an empty coffin
Wake up relieved and shake it off as if it were nothing

I guess my mind was preparing for the road ahead
I had said my goodbyes, and I remember just what she said,
“Stop acting like that”
“As if I’m not coming back”
Then she walked out the door, which was the end of that

When they lift that white sheet and you see the one that you loved
You know your body feels weak as if you’re floating above
It’s like it’s too much for your mind to try and comprehend
That person you saw this morning you’ll never see them again

Always trust in your instincts and never let them pass by
It could be your last chance to say all your goodbyes
It might hurt more thinking you could have changed it though
But just be thankful and remember it was their time to go.
