Angels

by Foresaken_Tears   Aug 30, 2004

Back against her bedroom wall
Belongings thrown at her feet
Shattered tears leak from her mind
Admitting her defeat

Years and years of horror endured
Have ended here today
One broken angel's spread her wings
And swiftly soared away

No pain within her heart tonight
It flutters inside her no longer
Her eyes are glazed, her head hangs lowly
Visions of truth are far from her

She climbs the stairs of belief and hope
To be roughly thrown back down
Run into the ground by vengeful words
'Till in her dementia she drowns

She begs for acceptance in heaven above
So many nights she has prayed
But as she tiptoes towards the gates
A harsh voice turns her away

Nowhere to run - angel child is lost
Deep down inside herself
So ashamed, so confused, utterly bemused
Refused safety in God's house

Clutching her knees she curls up tight
And blocks out the world around her
Her vision is blurred by salty tides
Her mind consumed by anger

Please take this child into your arms
Don't leave her here on the ground
Don't let her heart split into two
She's not too lost to be found

My silent plea to all of you
Whose lives are free of care
Please spare a thought for these lost souls
Who need you to be there

In giving your hand to a broken child
Know that you could end the fight
Of a thousand like this little winged girl
Who took her life tonight.

Finally another excellent poem written by you :) I love all of your poems (as you already know), and this one is just as beautifully written as the rest of your them. I really admire you, because you're such an amazing writer. This is what I would call true talent! :D
