Hell

by Rick Z   Aug 30, 2004

I hear the screams an distant cries
The gnashing of teeth and the painful sighs
I begin to feel a burning inside
But I know I am no longer alive
For my life I had put to an end
Yes,that bullet was my best friend
How can this be that I still can feel
And this pain is much more real
I had heard of a place some called Hell
I figured it was just a fairytale
I try to run and get away
Then all around me appear these flames
It feels as if every nerve I have
Is in pain and burning real bad
I smell a stench I cant describe then I hear a sound by my side
I turn to see who it might be
What must be the Devil is staring at me
Then with a wicked laugh and an evil grin
He says welcome to your payment of sin
This is the beginning but there is no end
And you thought suicide would be your friend
Then evermore did the pain increase
With weeping and wailing I began to gnash my teeth!

I did not read this before I submitted my poem "Opaque", but it is very similar to your's. I liked the part about payment of sin.
