Looking back on friends from the past
There's one in particular on my mind
He was always sweet and caring
And in him, trust, I could always find.
I remember going to class one day
Lonely and unaware
I didn't know a single soul;
I felt life was unfair.
This little boy who read dragon books
Said hello with a little smile
A comforting feeling came over me
And I knew he would be worth while.
Through the years, he comforted me
Through my times of need
With his love and encouragement
I felt I could always succeed.
He may not understand
The love for him I have inside
He's been such a wonderful friend
And has helped me restore my pride.
With each passing year
We'll grow older and grow apart
But there will always be a place for him
Here inside my heart.
*I wrote this poem for my best friend Daniel Johnson! He's been there for me since the 6th grade and he's just an amazing person!
