You Are

by My Obsεssion   Aug 31, 2004

You are the lightning
Illuminating the dark, stormy sky
You’re the one for which I live
But also the one for which I’d die

You are the lone star
Shining in the dark of night
You are the one that instills this war within myself
But also the one that could end the fight

You are the dove
Among a flock of crows
You are the one I hold these feelings for
But also the only one to which it apparently never shows

You are the single lighthouse illuminating
The vast, dark and raging sea
You are the one that takes my breath away
But also the one that breathes life back into me

You are the ebony pandas
That hide behind their ivory masks
You are the one I’d do anything for
But also the one that never asks

You are the diamond stud
That hangs from an African’s ear
You are the one I trust the most
But also one that I fear

You are the angel
That resides within my every nightmare
You are the one to mend my broken heart
But also the one to cause this wear and tear

You are the pearl
Hidden among a pile of opals
You are always the one to pick me up
But also the one to cause most of these falls

**This originally was going to be two poems..one constantly playing on the idea of light versus dark, the other kind of constantly playing on reversal of thought or whatever you want to call it. Then I came up with the novel idea of adding them both together and well I came up with this. It's kind of different from most that I've written (if you've read any of my previous work), but I hope you like it all the same**

No actually (at least the way I was thinking of it). There face is mostly white with the black around their eyes, nose and on their ears, giving the illusion that they're wearing a white mask (at least to me). Their bodies seem to be more white than black though so maybe I'll have to reword a little to try and clear things up there...

WOW! this is awesome! I really do like the reversal of thought you utilize in this. VERY well done!

One thing wrong, I think... Isn't the panda's mask black (ebony) not white (ivory)? You can easily switch the two words since they have the same syllables.
