Opaque

Life consisted of an ominous pretense,
Left alone with the cacophony of my silent loneliness;
The well-wishers had long departed, left me alone in my solitude,
My amiability left me, replaced with this chaotic shadowy brood.

One quick blast, and I thought it a great reprieve,
But the finality never came, and I yet grieve;
There is a place, beyond the mortal sight;
A land where the godly angels never dare to take flight.

Betrayers and Mutineers suffer interminable consequences, as rats, leeches and snakes eat their eyes,
The drizzle of rain falls forever, but it does not camouflage the harrowing cries;
Murderers and pedophiles limp down the street, encumbered by heavy yokes,
Everyone exists in torment, but a person can never be permanently broke.

The petulance of the Ruler--I perpetually hear his horrid laugh--adds to the misery,
Parched by a raging thirst, but the boiling waters leave me thirsty;
The sun is extinguished for eternity,
The benevolence of a friendly heart is now a fantasy.

The trees are dead, their branches hang with dripping moss,
The inhabitants of this realm appear the same, burdened with personal loss;
Suicide is my sin; it is why I quake,
And it is the reason I eternally dwell in the Kingdom of the Opaque.
