Daddy Dearest

by Jacki   Aug 31, 2004

What would I do if I seen
you walking down the street?
What would I say
or would I turn and run away?

These are the question
that fill my mind now.
But I remember a day
when I longed just to say Hi.

Gazing in the mirror
trying to pick out the parts
of me that are you.
I remember a day when
I was overcome by happiness.
The day you showed up
and walked into my life.

I remember the guilt,
I remember the pain.
I remember you just
wanted to play.
I remember it like it was
yesterday.

A scared little girl,
I was your daughter!

So much happiness
I thrived for in you.
So much disappointment
I found when I got to know
you.

Sitting here today,
4 years now have come
and gone.
Without one I'm sorry
for putting you through hell.
Not one I'm sorry
for the nightmares
you caused me.
.
So what would I do
If I seen you
walking my way?
