Watching heaven

by dandy   Sep 1, 2004

We're here together,
no one around us. We have the beach to ourselves.
The sun starts to set as we sit together,
you, your arms around my waist, embracing me, as the world's light fades into another night.
We both sit down in the now cool,
soft sand, as you lean me back onto your chest.
Just sitting, watching the purple, pink and orange colors of the sky slowly fade into a midnight blue.
I'm looking at heaven.
Too beautiful for words, as the stars make their appearance.
As if you can read my mind,
you tell me that the sky is beautiful,
but not more so than me.
So taken aback,
nothing could be more perfect than this.
Here with you, no one else.
I turn around, your hands never leaving my side, and look at your face.
Gazing into your eyes, studying your features.
It can't be. Your too perfect.
Nothing is this splendid.
Slowly, you lean in, leaving me dumbstruck.
I don't know what do. All I know is that I feel something.
Something so incredible and powerful, a blissfulness only heard of in romance novels.
Your lips, so soft and tender, press against mine as I let all fear and worry go.
For moment it lasts, but I need more.
I kiss you again, you kiss back.
Passion is the biggest understatement to describe my feelings.
We each pull away, as I look at you some more.
The night goes on, as does our love for each other.
When I look into your face, I don't see you.
I don't see a boy or a man.
When I'm looking at your face,
I'm no longer watching you. I'm watching as heaven unfolds right before me.
