The Death of Catherine Porter Part III

by Bryce Ellner   Sep 1, 2004

It was just before dusk
And again he was driving home.
After a long days work
He was ready for the night to be over.

He struggled to keep his eyes open
And tried choking back yawns.
But it only made him more sleepy
And his empty stomach wasn't helping.

The locket hung from him mirror
Smacking the window on occasion
And every a while he'd peer at it
But never for too long.

He entered the forest again
And he felt more tired than ever.
And just as he was about to 'round the corner,
His eyes started to close.

The next thing he remembered
He was laying on the ground
Staring up at the star-lit sky
And the moon-light shining down.

How had he gotten here?
Or more important, where was he?
He felt, then, a sharp twinge at his neck
And he rose to bring his hand to it.

His eyes met with bright light,
And he realized where he was.
There he lay in front of the lighthouse.
And his eyes fell on the girl.

"What the...?" was all he could blurt out.
And then he remembered the wreck.
"Did you save me?" he asked this time.
She smiled back and nodded.

"Why?" he asked "Who-"
In her hand she held out, the locket appeared.
He took it, unable to speak.
And when he looked up to ask her more, she'd already disappeared.

(YAAAAY! I finally got it on o.o;; Sorry for the wait, power decided it didn't like me. A coincidence maybe?)

I have to agree with victoria, sorry this has been so late. My vote and comment on this. But i'm here bryce i didn't forget about you lol. ANyways about the poem i never would have expected that she would end up saving his life. I had great visuals while reading this. Excpecially the part about the locket hitting the window on ocasion. I loved this one. I'm undecided if i like this one or 2 the best. I think theyre both amazing.
