The Blood Red Rose

by John   Sep 3, 2004

A single petal of a blood red rose,
Fallen to the floor.
Symbolic of the tears she cried that night,
She would remember them forever more.

Screaming out in the night,
Calling out in her dreams.
Looking through her tears,
Wishing her terror would drift away.

When she looked back in time,
All she could see.
Was the terror and rage
Of her ancestry.

Her fathers yelling voice,
Pounding in her mind.
All his malicious words,
Were the only memory she could find.

This was the last night she would see him,
His fist tumbling towards her face.
It was the first time she had struck back,
The knife struck with grace.

He collapsed onto the floor,
Tears streaming from her eyes.
The blade slipped from her hand,
As she watched her father die.

The night wind howled,
As she turned to walk away.
The petals of the blood red rose fell,
Never to forget the memory of that day.
