This house is too quiet

by Timothy   Sep 4, 2004

This house is too quiet,
And everything seems so still;
It seems too large,
But my soul feels about nil.

I can't go on without her,
Life has no meaning with her absence;
The ghosts that reside here now,
Mar me with their presence.

This house is very cold,
I do not have her arms around me to warm my bones;
I can't make myself do much of anything,
But sit here and cry and moan.

She was so self-sacrificing,
Right to the end;
Taking a bullet during a robbery,
When it was the clerk she was trying to defend.

Christmas was yesterday, our favorite day together,
But I did not celebrate it this year, because I had no will;
This house is too quiet,
And everything seems so still.
