The Box

by Robert   Sep 4, 2004

The box that taught me what to be,
in images of sound and light showed me.
It showed me how hard it was to take the Japanese Down,
when Godzilla would walk through their town.
A box that showed me hero and fiendish foe,
where I would either laugh or weep in my woe.
Lessons from Happy Days that taught me to be cool,
and visions of Gillian who showed me I was not the only fool.
A place near a carpet I could rest my head,
and a haven where I could hide my eyes from the walking dead.
I saw wrestling in the truest forms of good and bad,
and saw how the acting on soap operas was sad.
All this I saw as I grew up into a man,
and all these lessons I held on as a master plan.
They say you should not watch too much of this box I talk about,
but this is the thing that made me stout.
I am a child of the boom-tube or T.V.
for it is the thing that has made me, me.

I loved the ending to this, it made me kinda smile.

The idea behind this poem was both original and unique in concept, flow was good throughout and the imagery and content throughout the poem were wonderfully displayed.
