Stupid

I must be pretty stupid,

To think you actually cared,

That you actually did want me

and our love for each other was shared.

I look back and ask

Why I even tried

To keep the relationship going

Because we knew our love had died.

I knew that there was nothing

Nothing left for me,

But I wanted you so bad

I just couldn't let it be.

You hurt me so much

Every day I was in pain,

But I couldn't stay away from you

So went back to you again.

I had to be what you wanted

It was never my choice

Who am I to think

I have a right to voice

What I thought was best

Wasn't anything in the end

Truth is I didn't even want

To be seen as your friend.

So now I realize

That your nothing to me

Never was,

And never will be.
