You Showed Me

by Robert   Sep 5, 2004

A life of guilt and betray is the life I only knew,
in long dark days before I met you.
The days of dark memories and shattered dreams,
a scene of dark despair and hidden skeams.
I had no knowledge or even friendships,
I only lived in a world of mind numbing trips.
My father was never there to guide my way,
for in my life you were hunter or you were prey.
It was you who showed me who I could be,
it was your kindness and love that gave me the chance to be free.
You healed the pain I held inside,
and gave me strength and love even when I lied.
You stopped the bullet going through my head,
the day you stepped in front of me know it was you who was dead.
You did this so that my son would have a chance,
so that he would live his life through education and not by a lance.
You gave him the father you knew I could be,
it was only by your Death that you made me see.
You are the one that changed my life forever in one day,
and I hope you are watching my boy and me this I pray.
I can smile and go on knowing that you’re no longer there,
for you gave me a life of love and showed me how to really care.
