Drowning

by Poppy   Sep 6, 2004

Diving below the waves of sadness,
That comes crashing toward me,
I try to breath,
I cannot see.

Gasping for breath,
Going under,
Twisting and turning,
Kicking and punching,

All there is, is the darkness,
It engulfs me,
Suffocates me,
Blinds me.

So cold,
So dark,
So lonely,
So afraid.

I need air,
Fighting the water,
Needing the oxygen,
I can’t breath!

Struggling with unseen evil,
Fighting of the sleep,
Being pulled down father,
I break down and weep.

I can’t fight the water,
The unseen force of its tide,
Giving up, with one last fight,
I lose.
