Nine Months

by Robert   Sep 7, 2004

Nine months ago I had it all in my hand,
Nine months ago seems like a lost forgotten land.
Nine months ago I was the envy of the town folk,
Nine months now and I stand here a passing joke.
Nine months it will take for me to have a family to care for,
Nine months and it will never be like before.
Nine months and did it come from my seed,
Nine months I will have to pay by sweat and bleed.
All that I have ever wanted is gone in nine months I swear,
But now as I see my child's eyes I know I must care.
Held up to all that will hear what I have to say,
Know my child love for her will never sway.
Nine months is over and now I am a man,
Nine months starts eighteen years of a master plan.
Nine months will make a child unto me,
Eighteen years I have to make that child be set free.
