Dear Father

by Bryce Ellner   Sep 7, 2004

I remember that night all too well
I remember most you walking through that door.
That sight of you leaving...
And every night I remember it more.

I didn't realize
That you wouldn't return.
I was too young to know,
And now I live what I've learned.

Did I turn out ok?
Mom says I'm just like you.
And from things shes always told me,
I really hope that's true.

I know you're waiting for me,
Watching me every day.
Wherever that is, I hope that its better,
And I'm sorry that this is so late.

It's taken me seven years to say these things
But now I want everyone to know.
I finally realized what is was
That I couldn't let go.

I promise this forever
Whether I'm old or a high school grad.
I'll ways be able to proudly say
"That...was MY dad..."

(I'm sorry it took me so long dad...please forgive me.)
