Perseverance

The words I write are how I feel
Thoughts of suicide at times are real
Life is rough for me right now
But I will make it through somehow
I struggle even now while writing this
with taking the pills and slitting my wrist
No matter how bad things may be
I know suicide isn't the answer for me
Two things will keep me going on
God above and my newborn son
Though my son is with his mother
I will see him one way or another
And to all those who really do care
I thank you so much for being there
Your words of compassion spoken so kind
Have lifted me up just in time
