Seven Souls

by Bryce Ellner   Sep 10, 2004

Seven souls begin to fly
Back to where the shadows lie
Together not but yet they are
Seven souls entwined at heart.

Away they fly, no more to be
Their lives were all of tragedy.
A single wound that bled for days
Took these seven lives away.

Such life and death again
From start to finishing, end to begin.
Born with wounds we cannot close,
Like a slowly wilting rose.

As life goes on the petals loosen
Our skin goes frail, our bodies worsen.
And like the seven souls of nigh
We fly away into the night.

(This is a revamp of a short poem series I wrote way back in the day. There were 7 of them, all about seven different people in my life dieing, and only about 4 lines long each. I wanted so bad to post them but I can\'t find any of them, so I tried to recollect them in my thoughts and write one last poem to end the series...and well, this is it.)
