The Nurse

by Robert   Sep 11, 2004

I have walked alone in my life for what seems like years,
Knowing all my lessons in life bleed through my tears.
I have seen the just fall to their knees in pain,
I have seen it all, the blood, hate, greed and even love,
But through it all I know this is my gift from above.
The pain I see in their eyes,
And the comfort of my words hoping makes them wise.
I have put a child to rest on a soft pillow,
And I have held a woman that just became a widow.
I have tried to help those who God has put in my way,
And even cried with them when their was nothing left to say.
My passion was when they smiled as they walked down the hall,
And I knew I had saved them from their fall.
In my work I can only say one thing,
I am happy for the comfort and joy I bring.
I may never be famous or even rich,
But praise the Lord I have found my niche.
I am the one you call out to when you need a helping hand,
And by your bed side is where I shall stand.
My eyes and words shall try to put you at ease.
And you may call me by my first name or nurse if you please.
Always know I am a button away to ease the pain you feel,
And my promise to you is to care for you until you heal.
