Until one day he was needed somewhere.
He promised that he would return to me after he fought,
Or at least thats what he thought.
He lightly kissed my cheek goodbye.
As tears welled up in my eyes,
We said our final goodbye,
As he dropped my hands and begun to cry.
Each night I wish upon a star,
That he would not be very far.
The news is keeping me informed,
All they show are men in uniform,
I cannot understand why I had not heard from him,
Until the night I heard from "them."
I got the horrible news.
The lord thought it was his time,
And now I have lost the one who was mine.
Now as I wish upon a star,
The day I will be with him is not very far.
